The First Ride Guide

Alpha 1/2, Escape, Apex

Q: Why does my remote immediately shut down when I press the up button to start the motor?

A: This behavior is caused by a built-in safety feature designed to protect you and your equipment. If your board is on dry land or resting at an angle, the internal orientation sensors detect that it is not in a flat, safe riding position and will immediately shut down the motor as a precaution.

To test the motor spin on dry land, you can temporarily bypass this feature by pressing and holding the down button on your remote to enter the setup menu, navigating to your user settings, and toggling the safety option off. This disables the board angle shutdown detection so you can run your test, but please remember to toggle the safety setting back on before you take the board out to ride.

Q: Remote is not charging on the wireless pad.

A: The wireless charging cable requires a 9V power supply. Please ensure you are plugging the charger into a certified, name-brand (like Apple or Samsung) USB-C power adapter. Standard or generic USB ports often will not charge the device.

Q: How do I install the battery and properly close the lid?

A: The lid is made of high impact polycarbonate material. Be sure to follow this care guide carefully as over-tightening the screw can lead to cracking and thus water intrusion.

Q: When inserting the motor into the mast, there remains a gap, why doesn't my motor fit all the way flush with the mast?

A: Be sure to use the washer AND lock washer with each screw. If they are not used, the head of the screw will come in contact with the end of the thread and the gap remains. Visually check the seal compression before operation.

Q: I'm getting water intrusion into my battery box.

A: Be sure to "burp" the lid to allow all the air inside it to escape to properly close it. Please refer to this closing the hatch document for details,.
